Homemade Fly Spray
Fly spray is the bane of my co-habitation with horses. I get really annoyed at the cost of fly spray, the fact that it doesn't really work awesome, AND...if I am going to pay for something, it better work in a superior manner than what I could make at home.
So, with that little rant out of the way...I made my own flyspray. Tested it. And it works!!!!! And it's cheap!!!!!
Here is the recipe:
1 gallon distilled vinegar
1 container Listerine
1 container Dawn Dish Soap
1 container Baby Oil
Pour all ingredients into jar, tub or whatever. It makes about 1.5 gallons all in. I purchased a beverage container with a spigot to make refilling my flyspray bottle a breeze. Plus, I noticed my beverage container was cheaper than a storage container/tupperware thingy.
Now, I would like to set expectations for this homemade flyspray. It does not kill flys. It deters them. If you see a spot that a fly lands on, spray a little more on that spot. I have noticed that it definitly minimizes the flys for my girl. Let me know if you try it and what you think.
